3rd SJE Arts Next Generation Series

For an aspiring professional musician, the step from music college to the outside world is daunting: how to get your name known, how to cope with competition, how to find the time to learn new repertoire, how to avoid exploitation.

With the SJE Arts Next Generation Series, now in its 3rd series, we aim to help. Performers come to us in a variety of ways: through success in competitions – for instance the BBC Young Musician awards; by direct approach or recommendation; and also through the relationship that we have established with the Young Classical Artists’ Trust (YCAT), an organisation that selects annually and offers chosen candidates a performance platform and mentoring.

For our audiences, the Next Generation Series is a chance both to see some of the outstanding rising talent of today and to share in the enthusiasm, hope and dedication of these young performers. The atmosphere at these concerts is always a very special one.

The 3rd Series features four concerts. In February there is the outstanding young violist Timothy Ridout with Frank Dupree, followed by BBC Young Musician finalist, saxophonist Jess Gillam. At the end of June early music is paramount with a recital by lutenist Elizabeth Kenny and a collaboration between two inspirational musicians, Sean Shibe, guitar, and Mahan Esfahani, harpsichord.

Tickets to all concerts can be booked via the ‘Buy Tickets’ tab on the featured event.
