Corona Strings are delighted to return to SJE, albeit for a live-streamed event with no audience present.  The concert signifies the return to musical performance after a year of uncertainty and the programme celebrates the great body of English music that is our cornerstone.  We are thrilled to present the World Premiere of Corona, a work commissioned before anybody had heard of Covid-19 and performed with the composer himself, Roderick Williams OBE, as soloist.

Gerald Finzi ‘s magnificent Clarinet Concerto is one of the finest examples of the genre.  We are delighted to welcome Jack McNeill as soloist for this work that balances fiery excitement with real lyrical beauty and warmth.

The concert begins with Finzi’s gently contemplative Romance and ends with one of the most famous works for string orchestra, Elgar’s stunning Introduction and Allegro.

A programme will be available for download shortly before the concert day.
