The Choir of The Queen’s College and the Academy of Ancient Music join forces to explore the choral works of Giovanni Bononcini. Bononcini was Handel’s main rival in London, and the pair were known as Tweedle-dum and Tweedle-dee by their contemporaries! Given how glorious his works for choir and orchestra are, it is surprising that Bononcini has now fallen into obscurity. We seek to remedy this state of affairs with tonight’s concert, and we’re thrilled that several of the works will receive their first performance in modern times.
