Thame Chamber Choir, which will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2019, brings together many of the best singers from Thame and the surrounding area. Since 2007 the choir’s Musical Director has been Duncan Aspden, a conductor, organist and continuo player.  He is also Director of Music of the City of Oxford Choir, founder conductor of Excalibur Voices, and Associate Director of Music at the renowned Farm Street Church in Mayfair.

In this concert the choir is joined by cellist and Thame resident Nick Roberts, a member of the internationally-renowned Coull Quartet, to highlight the unusual and beautiful sound-world of chamber choir with solo cello. Bach’s motet Ich Lasse Dich Nicht, Richard Rodney Bennett’s A Farewell to Arms, Brahms’ moving Fünf Gesänge (Op104), and John Tavener’s haunting Svyati are amongst the works in this evocative programme, which will also feature music by Kodaly, Parry and Rheinberger for a capella choir, and movements from the great cello suites of J S Bach.
